Edinburgh’s Old Town is a place where antiquity surrounds you, so it feels quite appropriate stepping into this emporium of old maps, charts, globes and etchings. Many, though by no means all, are concerned with Edinburgh and Scotland, ranging from prints of some of the earliest maps to charming reproductions of jaunty 20th-century traveller’s atlases. Engrossing for collectors, the place has an absorbing effect on most, particularly when one of the long, wide drawers reveals a map of a much-loved spot in the world.
